Please send a brief e-mail with a photo of yourself and a writing sample to writerapp@blankslatepress.com. The writing sample can be a short story, essay, or novel chapter. The photo need not be the jacket photo you described above. Select a photo that you think will reveal your personality to us. Our focus is on discovering fresh new voices, but we will also consider writers who have been previously published.

Blank Slate Press is different. Blank Slate Press is looking for authors of original, unpublished full-length works of fiction (novel) or nonfiction (memoir, anecdotal, etc.) that has either already been written or will be written. We’re not looking for a collection of short stories or poetry, a screenplay, or the next book in a series of already-published books. Writers applying for the Blank Slate Press Literary Arts Incubator Program do not need to have been previously published or even to have completed a book. All applications will be judged by the BSP Editorial Review Board based on the applicaton and writing sample and, if requested, a phone or personal interview. The first round of applications closed April 23. Check out our "flagship authors" Anene Tressler-Hauschultz and Fred Venturini. Authors are encouraged to continue to submit for consideration during our second round of acceptances which will be in early 2011.
